<p>Background: Hemorrhoids are a prevalent anorectal disorder characterized by the swelling of veins in the anal and rectal regions, often leading to discomfort and a reduced quality of life. Despite their widespread occurrence, public understanding of hemorrhoids remains limited, with persistent misconceptions and inadequate knowledge. This study aimed to evaluate the level of awareness and knowledge regarding hemorrhoids among the general population of Lima, Peru. &amp;nbsp;Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 400 adult residents of Lima, Peru, between March and May 2023. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire comprising demographic variables and 20 items assessing knowledge of hemorrhoids. Statistical analysis was performed using Epi Info version 7. Results: The findings revealed varying levels of awareness and knowledge among participants. A majority correctly identified hemorrhoids (70.25%) and their anatomical location (69.75%). However, only 40% of respondents accurately recognized the underlying causes, indicating significant misconceptions. Knowledge of symptoms and potential consequences was comparatively higher, with 69% identifying common symptoms and 71.25% acknowledging the importance of seeking medical attention. In terms of prevention and management, 62.5% recognized preventive strategies, 58.25% were aware of over-the-counter treatment options, and 59.75% demonstrated knowledge of non-surgical management approaches. Conclusion: The study demonstrates a moderate level of awareness of hemorrhoids among the population of Lima, Peru, accompanied by notable gaps in knowledge, particularly concerning causes and treatment options.</p>
